Ajay Bulusu is a co-founder of NextBillion.ai and a veteran of large-scale geospatial and logistics technology. He was part of the founding geo engineering team at Grab, where he worked alongside Gaurav Bubna and Shaolin Zheng building location technology that powered one of Southeast Asia's largest ride-hailing and delivery platforms. That experience — operating at the intersection of real-time routing, fleet management, and customer experience — revealed a persistent gap: the most capable mapping and route optimization APIs were prohibitively expensive and built for generic use cases, not the specific constraints of last-mile delivery companies. This experience gave Shaolin a deep technical understanding of what it takes to build routing systems that perform reliably at scale: low latency under high concurrency, accurate ETA modeling across diverse road networks, and the flexibility to incorporate operator-specific constraints.
